Description

Easy Camembert cheese appetizer topped with boozy pears sauteéd in brandy, and drizzled with a warm, balsamic honey syrup!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 8ounce wheel of Camembert, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large pear (I used Bosc), cut into 1/4 inch dice
  • 2 tablespoons brandy (I used pear brandy)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Walnut pieces (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. PREP: Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. WARM THE CHEESE: Remove the cheese from the wrapper and place it back on the wood carton in it was packaged in or on a baking sheet lined in parchment paper or foil. Bake the cheese until warmed through, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. COOK THE PEARS: While the cheese is baking, melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add pear and cook, stirring until tender, about 3 minutes.
  4. ADD THE BRANDY: Stir in the brandy and cook for one more minute. Remove pears from heat and transfer to a bowl to cool slightly.
  5. COOK VINEGAR AND HONEY: Return the skillet to the stove and add the balsamic vinegar and the honey and simmer until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. SERVE: Top the cheese with the pear and balsamic syrup mixture. Garnish with thyme and walnuts, as desired. And serve immediately.
